Echocardiogram - Coastal Cardiology

pericardialeffusioEchocardiography uses ultrasound to record images of the heart whilst it is moving. It does not hurt, and involves putting jelly on the chest and using a transducer, in much the same way as pregnant women have scans of their babies. This test typically takes around 30 minutes, and provides the cardiologist with lots of information about the structure and function of the heart.
